HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 73-79CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA 55421 RESOLUTION 73-79 AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO CONTRACTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN OPEN SPACE AREA KNOWN AS LABELLE PARK WHEREAS, the City Council in and for the City of Columbia Heights, Minnesota is in the process of developi.ng an open space area known as LaBelle Park in conjunction with a Federal HUD Open Space Grant under Title VII of the Housing Act of 1961; and WHEREAS, on November 8, 1973 at 3:00 P.M. CST, sealed bids for slte cimprovements in said park were received and read aloud in the City Council chambers by the City Planner, and WHEREAS, these bids were based on plans and specifications prepared by Brauer & Associates, Inc. acting as a duly authorized .agent of the City, and WHEREAS, said specifications allow responsible contractors to bid in one or more of the six bidding divisions, further allowing them to tie or qualify these bids, and WHEREAS, two Contractors, Metro Engineering and Carl Bolander & Sons, elected to tie bids under provisions of these specifications 'and, WHEREAS, tabulation of said bids indicates that the apparent lowest base bid totals by responsible contractors are: DIVISION I DIVISION II DIVISION 111 DIVISION IV DIVISION V DIVISION VI Metro Engineering Metro Engineering Metro Engineeri.ng Metro Engineeri.ng Metro Engineering Electric Service TOTAL $39,116.20 $4l,lZ5.00 256,385.00 $33,065.00 $ 7,356.00 $ 3,970.00 $1~1,017.20 -and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to incorporate the following add alternates in their respective divisions to the Contracts for site improvements: DIVISION 11 DIVISION IV Alt. A - Fountain Complete Alt. A - Park Sign Alt. B - Sitting Area #2 Alt. C - sitting Area #3 Alt. D - Chain Link Fence Alt. E - North Playlot 3,600.00 450.00 375.00 375.00 4,100.00 1,775.00 Resolution 73-79 - 2 - November 20, 1973 DIVISION VI Alt. El-Electrical Service to Fountain Alt. E2-SW Path Lighting TOTAL NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: $ 363.18 $ 3,939.00. $14,977.18 The Mayor and City Manager be authorized by the City Council in and for the City of Columbia Heights, to execute contracts for site improvements in the open space area known as LaBelle Park, and The City Council finds that Metro Engineering is the lowest responsible bidder in Divisions I-V based upon the total 'of the base bids submitted in these Divisions, and 3. Electric Service is the lowest responsible bidder in Division Vi, and 4. Contracts be awarded to Metro Engineering and Electric Service in the following divisions for the amounts herei'n stated: DIVISION I DIVISION il DIVISION Ill DIVISION IV DIVISION V DIVISION Vi Metro Engineering Metro Engineeri.ng Metro Engineering Metro Engineering Metro Engineeri.ng Electric Service TOTAL $39,t16.20 $41,125.00 $56,385.00 $33,065.00 $ 7,356.00 $ 3,970.00 $1'81,017.20 and, That the following alternates by Division be incorporated into said contracts for the amounts 'herein stated: DIVISION I1 DIVISION IV DIVISION VI Alt. A-Fountain Complete Alt. A-Park Sign Alt. B-Sitting Area #2 Alt. C-Sitting Area #3' Alt. D-Chain Link Fence Alt. E-North Playlot Alt. El-Electrical Service to Fountain Alt. E2-SW Path Lighting TOTAL $ 3,600.00 $ 450.00 $ 375.00 $ 375.00 $ 4,100.00 $ 1,775.00 $ 363. ] 8 $ 3,939.00 $]4,977.18 and, Award of said contracts be contingent upon concurrence by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and The LaBelle Park Project be designated as OSL MN-546,1045C on all documents related to the project and, Resolution 73-79 - 2 , November 20, 1973 8. Expenditures for work completed under executed contracts be paid for from an account entitled "LaBelle Park Expenditure Account #202.4931.91." Passed this 20 day of November , 1973.
