ESTABLI~SHING PROCEDURE FOR CONSTRUCTING CONCRETE RAMPS
FOR ffANDICAPPED AND ELDERLY ON FUTURE CONSTRUCTION IN
COLUMBIA HEIGffTS.
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED By tke C~ty Council of the City of
Columbia Heights, that
WHEREAS, the Human Rights Commtssion of the Ci'ty of Columbia Heights
has recommended constderati'on of ramp construction in new
curbing for use' of handicapped and elderly citizen~ in
movtng down from and up to concrete curbs, and
WEEREAS, said suggesttons constitute an appropriate
consideration for t~e tndivi'duals involved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED [~y the City Councill of the
Ci, ty of Columbia He[gkts that tl~e City Manager be directed to
consi.'der tn future constructi'on plans for concrete curbs,,
an appropri'ate ~toping ramp approach ~,at intersections for the
use of pedestrians v~ko must u~e wheelchairs or are other~¢[se
handicapped in such a n~nner as to create diffi'cult[e~ in
stepping up or doNn from standard curbs.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that ~hen time and funding allows, similar
ramps be consi~dered for existing curbed intersections.
