HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 72-84 CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS ~iii: ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES 788-9221 ® COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA 55421 RESOLUTION # 72-84 SETTING MAXIMUM HOUSEHOLD INCOME LEVELS FOR LOW INCOME SENIOR CITIZENS TO QUALIFY FOR LOWER RATES ON GARBAGE SERVICE, SEWAGE DISPOSAL, AND WATER SUPPLY IN THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS. BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that WHEREAS, certain Social Security pensions for Senior Citizens have been increased recently, and WHEREAS, it is the intention of this City Council to assist our senior citizens who have financial problems attempting to retain a reasonable standard of living primarily from pensions, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the senior citizens utility rates as established by resolution November 4, 1971 for low income residents over 62 years of age with a maximum household income of less than $3,500 per year be and the same is hereby changed to allow the utility rates to be granted to low income residents over 62 years of age with a maximum household income of less than $4,000 per year. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said rates be effective on billings submitted after January 1, 1973 following receipt of the proper forms from the individual senior citizens. This resolution shall be effective upon acceptance of the rate adjustment by Modern Services, Inc. Passed this llth day of December, 1972.
