RESOLUTION #72-80
SETTING 1972 SALARIES FOR POLICE SERGEANTS
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Columbia Heights that based on the salary adjustments for
1972 in the Metropoli'tan Area, the following salary schedule
be set for the Police Department Sergeants:
The base pay on which pension computations and contributions
are based to be $894 per month.
A "pension inequity" payment of $t45 per month shall be
paid to each Poli'ce Sergeant.
Authorized over-time to be paid at time and one-half on
a cash, bas~s.
Education incentive pay to be established at the rate of
40¢ per month per approved college credit up to a maximum
of 90 cred?ts for courses completed with a grade of 'sC"
or better· Courses must be related to police work and
approved by the City Manager· Education incentive pay will
begin one month, after verification of grade transcripts
and approval by the City Manager·
The City shall replace uniform items as necessary in lieu
of a un[form allowance· For non-uniformed sergeants~ on
~nves. tigatton or duties requiring regular dress clothes,
a clothing allowance of $140 per year may be taken (paid by
the same method as in effect for 1971) but a Sergeant
cannot receive both a clothing allowance and a uniform
replacement.
One additional holiday (Good Friday or Easter) shall be
granted making a total of ten.
7. False arrest insurance policy will be continued.

A $5,000 life insurance policy will be paid for by the
City for each Sergeant.
Item 4 to be effective as stated. Item 7 upon acceptance
by the Sergeants and the C~ty Council.
