BESOLUTION #72-4l
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Columbia Heights, that
WHEREAS, A. Dale Jeska, has dedicated seven years of
conscientious service as a Councilman to our community, and
~HEREAS, the City has experienced orderly growth and
progress during his tenure of office, some of which are:
Recognition of financial stability in achieving a
bond rating of "A'l thereby lowering interest rates
on City bond issues, saving our citizens thousands
of dollars.
o
Setting up the means for financing and constructing a
badly needed new City Garage and Service Center.
o
Completed a City-wide comprehensive plan for
development of our community.
Construction of a trunk watermain system to give
adequate water supply for good fire protection as welt
as meeting domestic needs to the year 2000
Inaugerated a lower utility rate system for ]ow
income senior citizens.
o
Achieved the approval and funding of 100 units of
housing for the elderly, the first in our County.
Completed a major storm sewer system to the Mississippi River
in cooperati~ with other governmental units thereby
eliminating flood dangers such as occurred in 1965,
just before Mr. Jes~'s election to the Council.

Cooperated with other communities in our County and
Metropolitan Area in order to more efficiently and
economically serve our citizens where joint efforts
in areas such as purchasin9 were advantageous, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Jeska has personally served us as our
delegate and chairman of the Board of the Anoka County
Association of Municipalities, as the Council representative
on the City Planning & Zoning Commission, as a
member of the Po]icy and Goals Committee on Comprehensive
Planning, as a delegate to the elected officials review
committee for the Metropolitan Planning Commission, as well
as serving as Council President in this term of office.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights
on behalf of our citizens officially takes this means of
extending appreciation to Councilman Jeska and authorize
and direct thepresentation of an appropriate plaque to
commemorate his service.
