HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 72-35CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA 55421 RESOLUTION NO. 72-35 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A JOINT PO~RS AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY (F COLUMBIA HEIGHTS AND THE CITY OF FRIDLEY AUTHORIZING FIRST ALAP~ JOINT FIRE DEPARtmENT RESPONSE TO DESIGNATED PROPERT~S WITHI~ ~HE TWO CITIES BE IT RESOLVED~ by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights~ Anoka County,. Minnesota,- as follows: WHEREAS, the City of Columbia Heights and the City of Fridley adjoin each other for a substantial distance; and WHEREAS, both the City of Columbia Heights and the City Fridley maintain a municipal fire department; and WHEREAS, it is in the mutual interests of both communities to provide maximum fire protection for all properties within both municipalities~ md WHEREAS, it would be in the best interests of the properties within the municipalities to have both fire departments available in case of a major fire; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED~ that the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights authorizes its Mayor and City Manager to enter into a joint powers agreement with the City of Fridley, which agreement would authorize the fire departments of each city to be available on a first alarm joint fire department response to designated properties within the two muncipalities. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights authorized its Chief of the fire department to act in conjunction with the Chief of the Fridley fire department to designate those properties within the two municipalities which will be subject to the joint agreement. Said authority also authorizes the chiefs of the two municipalities to amend said list from time to time as would appear to be in the best interests of their respective communities.
