HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 71-58CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES · COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA 55421 '7/-- WHEREAS, Ordinance #759, Section 23D requires that snowmobiles may only be allowed to ~erate in park areas designated by resolution or ordinance by the City Council, and WHEREAS, Ordinance #694, Section 3 states that snowmobiles may operate on publicly owned property posted "snowmobiles allowed", NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council authorize the use of snowmobiles in the following City parks: Sullivan Lake Park, provided the vehicles are kept at least 100 feet from the edge of the skating rink. ~ilver Lake, provided the snowmo[~iles are brought in at the 41st Avenue boat landing, and shall not be operated on the [~each area at 43rd Avenue. Prestomen Park from 39th to 39½ Avenue between Cleveland and McKinley Street. LaBelle Park in the swamp area between 40th and 42n d Avenue when the ice thickness is sufficient to hold the vehicle, and the snowmobile operators shall be responsible for determining the safety of the surface, particularly in the vic~ity of weed growths in that area. They shall also stay at l~st 100 feet away from the skating rink andhockey rink areas by 42nd Avenue. Huset Park from Quincy Street to the Field House on Mill Street, except the sliding hill area across from the fire station. In this area the snowmobilers must stay well beyond the farthest reaches of the slide at the foot of the hill. They should also stay 100 feet away from the skating rink and hockey rink areas and shall not be allowed to go north and south on Jefferson Street. Passed thls 20th day of December, 1971.
