HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 71-36CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES 590-40th AVENUE N.E. 788-9221 · COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA 55421 RESOLUTION RATIFYING BY-LAW CHANGES IN THE POLICE RELIEF ASSOCIATION AS ADOPTED BY THE MEMBERSHIP THEREOF AT THEIR SPECIAL MEETING jUNE 17, 1971. BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heigh~ that: WHEREAS, the 1971 Minnesota Legislature in Chapter 11, provides that all by-laws or articles of incorporation amendments affecting the benefits paid by any police or fire association will not be effective until ratified by the local Council, and WHEREAS, the Columbia Heights police Relief Association has adopted three [3) by-law changes on June 17, 1971 effecting the benefits of the pension plan, cop{es of which are included herewith, and WHEREAS, said changes constitute a reduction in benefits which is a necessary and desirable indication of concern about the actuarial deficit in the pension fund which continues to increase, and WHEREAS, certain additional by-law changes are under consideration in conjunction with the negotiations now underway which would also tend to reduce the pensi'on actuarial deficit. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights does hereby ratify the by-law amendments as approved by the association membership and copies of said amendments are made a part of this Resolution by reference.
