HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 71-18CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES 590--40th AVENUE N.E. 788-9221 · COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA 55421 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Anoka County has demonstrated its willingness and ability to plan, build, and operate a County Park System, subject only to current limitations on funding, and WHEREAS, H.F. 1678 md S.F. 1237 would unnecessarily set up a new level of Government on a Metropolitan basis to handle this function, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights does hereby indicate its opposition to H.F. ]678 and S.F. ]237 and recommend the following actions be taken in its place: That the Metropolitan Council be authorized to prepare a Metropolitan Park System Plan. That any funds which are, or become, available for park purposes be channeled to those units of existing loca! govern- ment for facilities which conform to said Park System Plan. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be submitted to the appropriate Legislators.
