HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 89-38RESOLUTION NO, 89-38 WHEREAS: There has been considerable degradation of water quality in Silver Lake in recent years; and WHEREAS: The City of Colum~i~ Heights has an interest in the quality of public waters within the State and more par-ticularly within its own boundaries; and WHEREAS: Rice Creek Watershed District has passed a resolution indicatln9 that any future corrective work would be by Agreement of all parties involved; and WHEREAS: Rice Creek Watershed District is submitting an application for a grant under the Clean Water Partnership Act Program to study what is happening in the Silver Lake and wh~t can be done to correct or reverse the process; and WHEREAS: It is proposed that each party involved with Silver Lake pay a proportionate share of the matching funds for the grant NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights does support the proposed study by Rice Creek Watershed District and agrees to allocate its proportionate share of the study cost not to exceed $9,750; and furthermore, urges the Metropolitan Council to approve the grant application under the Clean Water Partnership Act Program to fund the study; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the involved parties negotiate a Joint Powers Agreement and that the parties request proposals for the study.
