BEING A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FINANCIAL PARTICIPATION
IN THE ASSOCIATION OF METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITIES
PROPERTY TAX COMPUTER ANALYSIS AND DATA BASE
FOR CALENDAR YEAR 1989
WHEREAS, the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities is attempting
to develop a property tax computer analysis for the 1989 Legislative Session in
concert with the League of Minnesota Cities' Coordinating Committee, the
coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities, the Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul;
and,
WHEREAS, the Minnesota League of Cities will likewise develop and
maintain in future years a property tax computer analysis system, however, not
until calendar year 1990; and,
WHEREAS, the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities is attempting
to provide property tax analysis in advance of the 1989 Legislative Session and
during the intervening year before the League of Minnesota Cities' system is in
place; and
WHEREAS, the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities is seeking
funding in order to underwrite the costs of providing property tax computer
analysis capability; and,
WHEREAS, the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities is seeking
funding on a voluntary basis from member communities on the order of $35,000 to
$50,000; and,
WHEREAS, larger suburban cities are being asked to commit $2,000 each
to this effort and smaller cities are being asked to participate on a basis
which is financially feasible to their respective community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Columbia Heights that
$500 be expended from General Fund - Contingency Fund for the purpose of
participating in the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities Property Tax
Computer Analysis; and, furthermore, that the City Manager be authorized to
inform the Association of the City's pledge and future payment.
