HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 83-59RESOLUTION NO. 83-59 WHEREAS, the City of Columbia Heights did, on the 8th day of November, 1983 conduct and hold a General Mun~cipa! Electlon for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two members to e Council, and a Special Election on the proposition of Sunday Liquor; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights at a special meeting of said Council, held on the 10th day of November, ~983, did canvass the returns and results of said General Municipal Election; and of said Special Election; and, WHEREAS, the following results were determined by said canvass of said General Municipal Election, and Special Election, to-wit: Total Ballots cast in elect)on 4,030 Valid votes cast for Mayor Non Valid ballots for Mayor 3,903 127 Valid votes cast for Council Non Valid bat)ors votes for Council 7,468 592 Valid votes cast for proposition Non Valid votes cast for proposition 3,845 185 VOTES FOR MAYOR Richard J. Geler Bruce G. Nawrocki Write-ins 1,553 2,350 10 VOTES FOR COUNCIL Edward M. Carlson Walter S. Logacz Gayle Norberg Gary L. Peterson Write-ins 2,055 1,531 1,704 2,178 1 VOTES FOR PROPOSITION Yes 2,277 No 1,568 The proposition was stated as follows: "Shall the City of Columbia Heights be allowed to license restaurants and hotels to serve alcoholic beverages by the drink on Sundays ? NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that Bruce G. Nawrocki is hereby elected Mayor, and Gary L. Peterson, and Edward M. Carlson are hereby elected members to the City Council, assuming said office on January l, 1984 and being officially seated at the first regular meeting of the City Council in 1984.
