COzNTROL STATUTES
BE IT ~REBY ~ESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia
Heights, that
WT~REAS, the present provisions of the Minnesota Liquor Control Statutes
regarding local control are inflexible and prevent the local municipal-
ity from controlling the dispensation of intoxicating liquor in regard
to local conditions and problems; and
WHE~AS, The League of Minnesota Municipalities and the Hennepin
County League of Municipalities have adopted resolutions calling
for the revision of the present Liquor Control statutes to permit
local municipalities, which now or in the future may have municipal
liquor facilities, to issue licenses to private parties to permit
dispensation of intoxicating liquors for on-pr~]ise conscription; and
W~REAS, such an amend_ment would provide the flexibility required to
meet local problems of liquor control:
N~?, T~REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Columbia Eeights as follows:
The City Council endorses and supports legislation presented
in the 1967 session of the Minnesota legislature which would
permit municipalities that now, or in the future, may operate
municipal liquor dispensaries to issue private licenses for
the on-premise consumption of intoxicating liquors in con-
junction with restaurant licenses, while retaining the right
to operate municipal "On ~nd Off-Sale~[dispensaries.
The representatives of the citizens of Co!m%]bia ~eights, both
in the Senate and House of Representatives, are herewith urged
to support such legislation.
The Clerk is hereby directed to distribute copies of this
resolution to the Governor of ~the State of Minnesota, the
Senator and Representatives of the 32nd District and to the
members of the legislative committees concerned with this
type of legislation.
