BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED By the City Council of the City of
Columbia Heights that
WHEREAS, The likelihood of a nuclear attack remains a real
threat which imperils the lives and property of our citizens,
and
W~IEREAS, State, county, and municipal governments and all
their employees need education which teaches principles of
personal and community protection from fallout, the role of
government in an emergency, and prepares the employee to
assume his civic and f~i!y responsibilities in an emergency,
and
WHEREAS, Karl F. Ro!vaag, Governor of the State of Minnesota,
has proclaimed the month of June as Government Employees'
Month, and has urged our support,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City
of Columbia Heights, that goverp~ent employees shall complete
the Survival Course during business hours following the summer
construction season as scheduled by the local civil defense
director in coordination with the Survival Course teachers
from the public schools and consultants from the State Depart-
ment of Education.
