HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 43-07WHEREAS The city of Columbia Heights owns And operates motor equioment in the construction and matntainence of its city streets, and WHEREAS There is a~ present a four cent state tax on gasoline and diesel fue~ used in the cohstruction and maintainance of streets inclu~ lng fues used in orocessing of ro~dn~aterials, and WHEREAS The tax paid has amounted to a great portion of the amount levied for the budget for road and street onrposes, and WHEREAS All trucks, patrols, gravel pit apparatus, crushers, scrapers, flushers, engineers' cars and numerous other oteces of e~ut~ment are used exclusively for the construction and/or maintenance of streets and seldom or never used on ro~ds outside the City limits we contend thot the tax on fuel used'for the above purposed shotuld be abated, and WHEREAS There is a bill introduced in the Legislature p~rmitting such refunds to be made to the municio~.litles, namely S.F. 610. no~ therefore, BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the city council of the City of Col~mbi~ Heights go or record as fully supporting S.F. 610, and that a cody of this resolution be sent to State Senator Wendell Ledin and to State Representative Gordon C. Peterson.
