HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 57-85 Councilman Orendorff presented the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
"WHEREAS, the Cities of Columbia Heights, Fridley, Coon Rapids, and
the Villages of Blaine, Spring Lake Park, Circle Pines, Lexington and
Moundsview propose to join together for the purpose of forming a hospital
district and
~EREAS, this area comprises a territory of,more than four designated
cities and villages, and
W~EREAS, the entire territory of each of these municipalities is to
be included in the hospital district, and
WF~REAS, This City is contiguous at at least one point to the
territory of one or more of the other cities or villages included in
the proposed ~ospital district, and
WHEP~EAS, none of these municipalities are located within a duly
constituted or organized hospital district, and
WI~EREAS, in the considered judgment of this, the City of Columbia
Heights, it is of the utmost importance and urgency that hospital
facilities be made available to the people located within its area, a~d
WHEREAS, in order to accomplish this and for the purpose of acquisition
betterment, operation, maintenance and administration of a hospital,
nursing home facilities, or such other hospital service, that in the
judgment of the hospital board would be necessary, this can be accom-
plished most expeditiously and economically by the formation of a hospital
district to include the area above described and set forth.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Columbia Heights
do hereby establish that their municipality in its entirety is hereby
included in the proposed hospital district or such portion of it as
shall ultimately be established so long as it has at least four (4)
municipalities in number and so long as they are contiguous to one of
the other municipalities who ultimately form said hospital district,
AND FURTI-~R BE IT RESOLVED that this Resolution shall be considered to b~
be in full satisfaction of any and all requirements that may have been
anticipated for the purpose of joining this municipality to a hospital
district as said requirements are set forth in Chapter 570, Minnesota
Session Laws 1959"
Motion was duly seconded by McCline and unanimously carried.
