HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 57-27The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves,
RESOLVED; that the following revised wage scale, the classification
of equipment, the designation of legal holidays and other matters pertaining
to wages and salaries and working conditions are hereby adopted.

The foLlow~ng pieces of equipment shall be classified as heavy
equipment and the operation thereof shall be paid for at the
rate of $2.55 per hour,
Street Sweeper, Patrol Graders, Traxeavator,
Bulldozer, Six ton front end loader, Five r
ton Roller and Seaman Mixer.
Trucks, Asphalt Distributor, tractor ~d any other equipment
not listed in item one above, shall be~ classified as light
equipment and the operation of such equipment shall be paid
for at the rate of $2,25 per hour.
Laborers shall be paid at the rate of $2.00 per hour and
after six months of continuous service, this rate shall
be increased ten cents per hour.
4. The following classifications shall receive a wage scale
as follows:
Water and Sewer Maintenance .men $2.25 .per hour
Mechanic 2.55 " "
Mechanic helper - casual 2,25 " "
full time.. 2,35 " "
Street Foreman 455,00 " month
Supt. of Parks 410.00 " "
Senior Park keeper 380.00 " "
Water & Sewer Supervisor 455.00 " "
Meter Reader 390.00 " "
Plumbihg Inspector 400.00 " ,

A~ assignments of operators of mechanical equipment, shall be
on the basis of seniority and qualifications as operators of
such equipment.. Ail assignments shall ~be made by. the foreman
of the department effected.
Separate seniority, lists shall be set up. for the Street
depar~Im~n% and the water and sewer departments. In case
of emergencies and ~re need, nothing shall prohibit the
integration of the above departments when so ordered by
the City Manager or his designated representatives.
Legal holidays as defined .by M~A 645.44 shall be adopted and
are herewith listed:
1. New Years Day January 1
2. Lincolns ' Birthday February 12
3. Washingtons. Btrthda~ " 22
4. Memorial Day May 30
5. Independence Day July 4
6. Labor Day First Monday in ~eptember
7. Columbus Day O~tober 12
8. Christmas Day December 25
9. Good Friday
10. Thanksgiving
11. Armistice November 11
Should Christmas, New Year, Memorial day or the 4th of July fall
on a Sunday, then the following Monday can be construed as a
holiday. Should Lincolns, Birthday, Washingtons, Birthday,
Columbus Day or Armistice .Day fall on a Sunday, the following
Monday would not be a holiday.
These designations shall not apply to the Municipal Liquor
Store, since that function is proprietary rather than govern-
mental. For this reason only, those Holidays herewith listed
shall be observed as legal holidays:
1. New Years Day
2.~ Memorial Day
3. Independence Da~
4. Labor Day
5. Christmas Day
6. Thanksgiving Day
7. Ail employes of all ~departments not specifically mentioned
in the preceeding paragraphs, except the employees of such
departments under Joint Jurisdiction, .or on a fee basis,
shall receive a .pay increase based on~ the rate in effedt
and in force on January 1st, ,1957, of 6% of. that rate.
8. This resolution shall become effective and in force as of
April 1, 1957.
