ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY
~E IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights,
Minnesota, as follows:
1. It is hereby found, determined, and declared:
(a) That on May 9th , 1.9 5~6, there was presented to and received
by this Council a'""Petition for Annexatmon to City of Columbia Heights.,,
Signed by Ralph J. White and others, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes
1949 SectiOn d13.12, petitioning thi§ Council to call an election for determina-
tion of whether the territory described therein shall be annexed to the City of
Columbia Heights;
(b) That the territory so proposed to be annexed is described therein
as follows:
Sheffield Acres, Lots 9 through 24 inclusive
Sheffield Acres, Lots 41 through 56 inclusive
Pleasant View Addition, Blocks l, 2, 3, 4.
Auditors Subdivision #85, Lots I and 2
Valley View Addition, Block 5
Valley View 2nd Addition, Blocks I through 9 inclusive
Pats Addition, Blocks i and 2
Auditors Subdivision No. 51, Lots 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
the E. 293.0 of Lot 9 and all of Lot 10
Auditors Subdivision No. 15, Lots 1 through 29 inclusive
Sullivans Grove, Blocks 1 and 2
Ail located in Anoka County, Minnesota.
Boundary lines are as follows:
On the West by the City of Columbia Heights; on the North by the City of
Columbia Heights; on the East by the Village of Fridley, the City of Columbia
Heights, and the Village of Hilltop; on the South by the Village of HLlltop
and the City of Columbia Heights.
(c) That the Quantity of land embraced therein is 168 acres;
(d) That said territory contains a population of not less than 75 persons
and the number of actual residents thereon~is~ .339 persons;
(e) That said territory is not included in any incorporated city, but
adjoins the City of Columbia Heights, and no part thereof is more than one
and one-half miles from the present limits of said City;
(f) That said petition is signed by five or more legal voters residing
wit~uin such territory;
(g) That petitioners have caused an accurate census of the resident
population of said territory to be made and taken within the period of four
weeks next preceding such presentation and receipt of the petition;
(h) That said petition is duly verified by the oaths of at least vhree
of the petitioners, declaring that such census was accurately taken within said
four weeks, and that the statements within the petition are true; and
(i) That said petition, verification, and census are in all respects
proper, adequate, and fully comply with the laws of the 'State of Minnesota
applicable thereto, and should be and is hereby granted.

2. An election is hereby ordered and directed to be held in and for the
territory so proposed to be annexed on Monday
day of ~[ay , 19 56-, between t~e hours of' the 28~2~

and 8:~-0 O'clock' P.M. T~ing p~ for said election shall be at
708 - ~gth Ave. in said territory. The following three persons,

act as judges of the election, viz:

and Elaine Polzin

3. The City Clerk is authorized and directed to cause notices of said election
to be posted in at least three public places within said territory, not less than
ten nor more than 30 days prior to the date of said election, and an affidavit of
such posting shall be made and filed in the office 5f the City Clerk. 'Said notice
shall have a copy of said petition attached thereto.
~. The City Clerk is authorized and directed to cause printed ballots to be
prepared and furnished to said inspectors and judges of election for use by the
voters, which ballots shall be in substantially the following form:

5. Immediately after such election, the inspectors shall canvass the
ballots and forthwith make and file with the City Clerk a certificate stating the
time and place of holding the election; that they have canvassed the ballots cast
thereat; and the number cast for and against the proposition. Such inspectors,
certificate shall be made and certified by all of the inspectors to ~he effect
that the statements therein are true.
