TP~ OPE[t~TIO;~T OF FUNICIPAL LIQUOi'~ STORES.
V~HEREAS, there have been several bills introduced in the
current session of the State Legislature effecting the operation of
municipal liquor stores;
A}~ WNEREAS, the Cit2 of Columbia Heights operates a m~uaicipal
liquor store and desires to continue to do so for the best interest of
the citizens of said City,
NOX TNEF~FORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the
City of Columbia Heights, at a regular meetin~ this 1st day of Harch,ig[1
hereby expresses its sentiments pertaining to such legislation, as fol!o~,
and respectfully request the local representatives in the State Legis!ature~
to exercise their influence in behalf of such position:
First: That the prooosal that municipal liquor stores contribute
20 per cent, or any other percentage, or net profits to the co~unty, or any
other political sub-division, be rejected;
Second: That general, legislation be provided assuring that any
municipality now operating a municipal liquor store, may continue to do so
in the future, regardless of the popu!ation~
Third: That opposition be expressed to any other legislative
proposals ~daich serve as an impediment to the successful operation of
municipal liquor store.
