ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION IN 2000
President Synowczynski stated that the issue of Mayor vs. City Manager over the Police
Department will be discussed at our regular meeting in January.
She also stated that back in March of 1999, when the Charter Commission met with the City
Council jointly, it was discussed that the language regarding the Mayor' s responsibility for the
Police Department (Chapter 2, Section 10) should be reviewed.
A commissioner asked about the status of council members being voting members on commissions.
The President stated that the City Council was working on it.
The President asked members what other items they would like to discuss in 2000. She stated that
at the last chapter-by-chapter review of the charter, a lot of time was spent on the first half of the
charter, and perhaps more review in 2000 could be put into the last half of the charter.

election oF officers.
