ROLL CALL o Nawrocki , Ruett~mann, Peterson, Murzyn - present Clerkin - absent PURPOSE OF MEETING To consider the 1994 budget, and establish t:ax levies PRESENTATION OF INFORMATION The City Manager reviewed the budget preparation process. He specifically addressed the City tax relative to other taxing entities, the overall budget, the impact the proposed tax will have on properties, and tax supported funds which are the General Fund and the Library Fund. It was noted that no HRA budget information was ]ncluded in the material being presented at this meeting. It is anticipated this budget will be approximately $71~000. An inquiry was made regarding the number of sworn officers and squad cars there are in the City's Police Department. There are twenty-two sworn officers and ten squad cars. It was noted this exceeds the standard of one sworn officer to i :00O population Some residents were of the opinion that number of officers and squad cars should be increased. The proposed elimination of the hiring of one police officer was questioned by a resident . A grant was submitted for funding for two officers for three years. He noted that t~e budget ll/dy need t~0 be amended [he grant is reponded to.
