HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 1466ORDINANCE NO. 1466 BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, SECTION 7, OF THE CITY CHARTER OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PERTAINING TO ELECTIVE OFFICES The City of Columbia Heights does ordain: Chapter 2, Section 7, of the Charter of the City of Columbia Heights which currently reads as follows, to wit: CHAPTER 2 ELECTIVE OFFICES SECTION 7. The council shall be composed of a mayor and four council members who shall be qualified electors, and who shall be elected at large in the manner hereinafter provided. The four council members shall serve for a term of four years and until their successors are elected and qualified, except that for council members elected in 1995, one council position term shall expire on the first Monday in January of 1999. The other council position term shall expire on the first Monday in January, 2001. The terms of any council members elected at a general election in 1998 will expire on the first Monday in January of 2003. For council members elected in 1997, one council position term shall expire on the first Monday in January of 2001. The other council position term shall expire on the first Monday in January, 2003. The mayor shall serve for a term of two years and until a successor is elected and qualified, except that the term of the mayor elected in 1995 shall expire on the first Monday in January 1999. Thereafter, the Mayor shall serve for a term of two years and until a successor is elected and qualified. The council shall be judge of the election of the mayor and council members. IS HEREWITH AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: CHAPTER 2 ELECTIVE OFFICES SECTION 7.
